Viewers react to Ireland AM’s AI generated show

Well, that really was a show to remember!

Ireland AM made history by being the first show completely controlled by AI on Thursday morning.

And it was certainly something!

From bizarre intros to deep fake Tommy Bowes, it was a show that we’re not sure will be replicated any time soon.

Viewers were not afraid to share their opinions on the special episode.

If you missed the morning show, it was completely written, produced and researched by AI. That means that things were a bit different on the show. In fact, Muireann headed into the kitchen for the first time. She was tasked to create breakfast burritos by ChatGPT!

She was joined by the show’s surprise guest, Spencer Matthews, to try their hand at cooking. And try is the optimal word with this one, we promise. We’re not sure that we’ll see Muireann in the kitchen anytime soon.

Another moment saw not one but two Tommy Bowes. During their interview with country singer Cliona Hagan, a very strange-looking Tommy was on the couch. It was quickly revealed that it was a “deep fake” Tommy, which means he was completely computer-generated with a replica of his face placed onto the body of sports presenter Will Dalton.

A third bizarre moment saw Eurovision star Brooke Scullion show off her “hidden talent”. What is that you may ask?

Well, she gave David Attenborough a run for his money with her animal segment. Before her music career, Brooke spent many years working on a pet farm and has a pretty impressive knowledge of animals.

Fans took to social media to share their opinion on the show. And they did not hold back.

“Dreadful. Had to turn it off,” one fan wrote.

“I must say we can see now AI will never take the place of humans it was awful,” a second said.

However, a third said: “That was totally mad! So interesting to see! Loved watching it this morning!”

“Absolutely hilarious and a bit scary. Love the 3 of ye together,” another said.

We’re not sure if we’ll be seeing anymore AI on Ireland AM after this one!
