Peaky Blinders really isn’t over!
Despite finishing up the show back in April 2022, rumours have swirled that a movie was in the works as well as some type of spin-off.
The idea that a film would be happening has been bandied around for months. However, when Cillian Murphy AKA Tommy Shelby himself, has been asked about it, he has been fairly nifty at dodging the question.
Now Bloomberg has reported that Netflix is eyeing up the possibility of not one but two spin-offs.
Neither of them include the movie idea…
And it doesn’t look like Cillian Murphy will be involved in either spin-off. Say it ain’t so!
So what can we expect?
Well, the publication reports that the first one is to be set a couple of decades after the events of the final season, in the mid-century and will take place in Boston. A far cry from its original Birmingham. Although season six saw Tommy Shelby heading for a visit to America.
The other series would be a prequel focusing on Aunt Polly, who was played by the late Helen McCrory.
Neither of these shows have been confirmed by Netflix.
Although Cillian Murphy is unlikely to appear in either of these Peaky iterations, it doesn’t mean we won’t see Tommy Shelby again.
During his Variety Actors on Actors interview with Margot Robbie, she asked him if he would be interested in playing the iconic role once more.
“I’m open to the idea. I’ve always thought that if there’s more story to tell… we’ll see,” he responded.
