Cillian Murphy landed his first Oscar nomination this week.
And we couldn’t be more proud of the Cork man!
He has now revealed how he celebrated his first Academy Award nomination.
And honestly, it couldn’t be more Irish!
He told Variety: “I’m actually in my parents’ house in Cork city. I was with my parents and my wife today. So that was really nice.
“We had a cup of tea and a slice of cake. It was quite nice. My mom made a sponge cake. It was very tasty.”
He admitted that it was nice to be able to enjoy the nomination during the day referring to the early announcement time in the States. The Oscar nominations were announced at 1:30pm Irish time!
He went on to say that he was “honoured and kind of overwhelmed” to receive his first nomination
As to who will attend the awards with him, he will be joined by his Yvonne and their two teenage sons, Malachy and Aran for the ceremony in March.
We’re keeping our fingers and toes crossed for Cillian to pick up the Academy Award later this year!
