The cast of Grey's Anatomy will be expanding further this season with another major cast member revealed. It's also been announced when the new character will be introduced.
Per Deadline, Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill, Chicago PD) has joined the cast of Grey's Anatomy for a "major recurring role." She will be making her debut in the sixth episode of Season 21, which is set to air on Nov. 7, 2024. Bush is playing a character named Dr. Cass Beckman, described as an "amiable, fun and a little messy around the edges trauma surgeon at Seattle Presbyterian whose husband David Beckman is a cardiothoracic surgeon at Grey Sloan." It's not yet known who will play David, though he is expected to be a much more minor character. Meanwhile, Bush has already revealed a first look at herself in scrubs for her role on Grey's Anatomy.
"I just wasn’t done with my scrubs," Bush said in the caption of an Instagram post shared from the set.
Chicago PD fans will recognize Bush from her role as Erin Lindsay. Along with starring on the series, she made appearances in the crossover shows Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago Justice, and Law & Order: SVU. Her other TV credits include Jane the Virgin, This Is Us, and Love, Victor. Bush happens to have experience with playing a medical professional as well, as she previously starred in the CBS series Good Sam as a heart surgeon.
